"My Day", by Corbin Jonathan

Waaaah! I hope mom can hear me. It's ten 'til eight and I am ready to get up.
Photobucket
Oh, hi mommy. You say this isn't the position you left me in? Yeah, well, I tend to squirm a lot, remember? What are you doing with that camera? Do you realize it isn't in focus? I realize you haven't had your coffee yet- I forgive you.
Photobucket
Ah! The first bottle of the day! This one tastes like beef stirfry over rice. Good stuff. Now it's time to get changed into something new. I hardly ever wear an outift twice. A guy's gotta look fashionable, you know.
Photobucket
Hmm, kind of a girly choice, mom. But I won't complain. It's storytime anyway, and it looks like you chose some good books. I will be sure to add my own commentary as we go along.
Photobucket
Time for hand-play. Look at this crazy rattle. I only want to bat at it if I am sitting up, though. I'm fussy that way.
Photobucket
Ugh. Tummy time. I've been doing this tummy time thing since I was 2 weeks old. Isn't that enough practice? At least you figured out that I won't fuss as much if I have a pillow under me. Soon after you took this photo, I made a few kicks forward and almost took a nosedive into the carpet. Thank goodness you were watching me, mommy!
You say I have to take a nap now? I've only been up a couple of hours!!! And you're going to try to put me in my crib for a nap? I won't have it. I swear I won't. I'm 3 months old, after all, and well aware of my surroundings. I don't like change.
Photobucket
See? I told you I don't like change. After an hour of trying, mommy decided to give in to my demand that I nap in my swing. Out like a light.
Three hours later, I am up from napping, and I am hungry. Mommy sees that I like to bite the bottle nipple really hard. She says she's glad she pumps now, whatever that means. She decides I need something to chew on.
Photobucket
Mmmm, football! Yes, you have to hold it for me, mom. I can't hold it myself, yet.
Mommy decided she wants to do some light housework. But I am awake. What should she do?
Photobucket
(Sigh). Mom, you are such a goober. At least I really don't mind being carried around the house in this thing. I guess it's cool to look at things from this angle.
Hmm, naptime again. I better go right to the swing this time. Let me call on BlueBear to help me out.
Photobucket
I heard daddy come home an hour later, so I thought I would be clever and wake up during suppertime. Daddy is happy to see me, and puts me in my bouncer so I can see what's going on.
Photobucket
After dinner, I get in my pajamas. They are getting a little snug. Looks like the last time I will wear these. Daddy and I have an animated conversation about what I want to be when I grow up. I definitely said no to a lot of career choices he threw out, but I really liked the idea of being a boat/ship captain. When daddy teased me and said he wouldn't pay for college then, I pouted. Then he said he would, and I laughed with glee. Mommy and daddy laughed at this.
Photobucket
Well, it's been a busy day. I guess it's time for bed.
Photobucket
I had a very busy day. Good night.

March For Babies

Just a quick little note. If Corbin would have been borm 4 days earlier than he was, he would have been a preemie. Jon, Corbin & I are going to participate in the March for Babies on April 27th. Please help us raise funds for the March of Dimes. The link is off to the right on a sidebar. Don't worry! We will resume normal programming now...

Puppy Outfit

Photobucket
Photobucket

I never buy clothes at retail price, but I did on Friday night. Who can resist the puppy dog hat? And we had to have the matching outfit! The photo below is Jon getting him read for a photo shoot, but I think the "getting ready" shot is cute, too. Look at that giggly face.

We Heart Mo.by

Photobucket

We love our new wrap. It is so comfortable and versatile. We can wear it so many ways as he grows. It will hold up to 35 pounds comfortably, and it definitely does not hurt my back. It's going to be great to have in the house if Corbin is still little when we conceive child #2. I could still play with him and nurse a newborn or cuddle with the new addition all the while. Yesterday, we wore it for 3 hours. I did the laundry with him in it, cleaned the house, walked around the mall (and we got lots of oohs and ahhs from passersby)- I feel invincible in it! :)

ETA: My e-photo album is having problems resizing photos tonight- sorry our pic is huge! I tried several times to fix it & I give up!

Corbin & His Exersaucer

He loves his new exersaucer. He's a little young for it, but it still mesmerized him. I was super-impressed that he could push the buttons on his own.

Sleep Schedule

Photobucket

Photobucket

Yesterday, we got to hang out with Aunt Jeni over at Ethan's house. We had a nice afternoon playing with babies. Corbin stayed up for a couple of hours and even stayed true to his nap schedule while we were over there. He took the SweetPea.ce soothing center for a test-drive. I wasn't sure how he would take to it, but he liked it! For some reason, he sleeps best during daylight hours in a swing. I think it's because he is fighting off sleep since everyone's up and things are so exciting. Motion soothes him to sleep no matter what, so I guess that's why it works.

We've been very lucky with his sleep schedule- he's very predictable. And he slept for 7 hours 3 days last week, and last night he slept 6 1/2 hours in a row. He takes his morning nap from either 9 or 10 am to 12 or 1 pm, and then from 3 pm to 5 or 6 pm. Then he goes to bed somewhere between 9 and 10 pm. Of course, I probably just jinxed it!!!

Slept Through First Meeting with Cousin

Photobucket

We went over to Corbin's cousin's home today because he had been discharged from the hospital. I was hoping for a good photo of the two of them "meeting", but they both slept through the entire visit.

On the way to Ethan's house, we stopped to eat brunch with my father-in-law & step-mother-in-law. We had packed a lot of things into the backseat of the car, where I was sitting with Corbin. When we got to the restaurant & I stepped out, I didn't realize the camera strap was caught around my foot & I ended up dragging it out of the car with me. It broke. We went to get an estimate for repairs, and it will cost as much as a new camera of the same version. Since we had an insurance policy on it, we suggested to the insurance company that we just get reimbursed for a new one. Jon's dad (our agent) will get back to us on whether or not this will work out. If it does, we plan to upgrade our old camera to the 12.0 mega-pixel version (we have the 10.0). So in a way, my clutziness may be a blessing!

Eczema & Babbles

Photobucket

Photobucket

Corbin has been having a lot of trouble with his skin for the past 2 weeks. It started off as dandruff and scaly patches on his elbows and shins, and progressed to red bumps, too. Last night, overnight, he scratched his head and also rubbed the red bumps on the back of his head against his sheets so much that they bled. :(
I got some hydrocortisone cream at the store today & he seemed to really like it. I feel better, but I wish that I could have figured out that he was itchy sooner than I did.

On a lighter note, his babbles are sounding more and more like words. Especially when he is fussing. This morning when Jon was getting ready for work, Corbin was upset & started to babble while he fussed. All of a sudden, it sounded like he yelled, "G___D___ it!" Jon and I both heard it clear as day and started laughing. I said, "Oh great! His first words!" Jon said not to worry... unless he repeats it!

Happy Valentine's Day

Photobucket

Corbin has a cousin! His name is Ethan Robert & his stats are very similar to Corbin's. Mom's water broke at night, they had him in the morning. He was 6 lbs 14.4 oz, and 19.25 inches long at 39 weeks gestation (Corbin was 6 lbs 9.5 oz and 19 inches long at 37 weeks and 3 days gestation.)His newborn photos even look a little like Corbin. But he has a full head of hair!

Sleep News

Photobucket

Corbin slept through the night last night for the first time. He slept from 9:30-4:30. Anything over 6 hours is "sleeping through the night." It was a nice break for once, even though I know not to expect it. He woke up ready to play, but I put him in his bouncer & he went back to sleep.

Here he is in his swing taking his morning nap with his lovie, the BlueBear.

Just for good measure, here's a smiley pic.

Valentine's Day Prep

Photobucket

We went to Tar.get today & got some valentines. So grandparents & great-grandparents, be on the look-up for your Valentine from Corbin in the mail soon. It's not a home-made card, but it is a brand new, cute pic of our little man. This is not the photo we're sending- it's just a teaser.

The Big Dog

Photobucket

Well, the big dog photo session did not go as I had hoped. First of all, he slept through the whole thing. In fact, he slept most of Wednesday away, which I paid for on Weds. night/Thursday morning. Anyway, the fur on that dog is so thick that it was smothering him, too. Maybe we will get good photos when Corbin is able to crawl around on him.
