Big Boy Chair

Photobucket

Here is Corbin this morning in his little rocker. He sat in it for a few minutes & did really well sitting up. That little scratch on his face is from 2 days ago when he woke up with a bloody scratch on his face. I felt just terrible. Jon & I held him down & clipped his nails and filed them as best we could. Hopefully that is good enough.

We got a memory book this weekend to fill out about Corbin's birth. I filled out as much as I could yesterday & it turned out very nicely. It got me in the mood again to scrapbook. I am so behind in scrapbooking it is ridiculous. But I don't see how I will ever keep up at the rate I am taking photos. He's too cute not to take photos.

Today I am going over to my mom & dad's condo to drop off his newborn clothing for storage. That is sad. I probably won't open those again until baby # 2. I can't believe how quickly he is growing up. I hope I remember to bring the camera, because they have this large shaggy dog in the spare bedroom that I would like to take his picture with.

Also, I am still sick, but feeling so much better. No throwing up since Sunday morning & my temp is normal. Still have the bronchitis cough, though. Soon enough I will be up & running (literally) again.

Sick Again

I just wanted to pop on and say that I am sick AGAIN! Went to urgent care Friday night & got new antibiotics. I think they are working because I do feel better already. Friday and Saturday night were the worst, though. My fever was 102+ and I even started hacking so hard that I would throw up! It is scary to be holding your baby & having to put him down super quickly & safely so that you can run to the sink, toilet, etc. It's the same thing- bronchitis. The doc said at least it doesn't sound like pneumonia. I'm laying off of exercising this week. Maybe it is weakening my immunity? Last week I ran a lot.

I'll check back in when I am well again.

2 Month Well Visit, etc.

Photobucket

Corbin is 2 months and 2 days old today & was born 9 weeks ago today. He had his 2 month check-up yesterday & had to get his first vaccinations. That was sad for mommy, but since he had some pain reliever ahead of time, he took them pretty well. He's a little fussy today though, which they said could be expected.

He was born at 6 lb 9.5 oz, which is in the 10th percentile. I have a little guy Anyway, he was 10 lbs, 8 oz yesterday, which moved him up to the 25th percentile. And that was before eating, too. I was happy to hear that.

The ped suggested moving him into his crib now since he's learned to cry every 2 hours to get me to wake up and feed him. We tried it last night, and he actually did a LOT better than I anticipated. We used his rainforest soother and womb-sounds bear & played lullabies on the Ipod all night long to keep him subdued, and he only woke up crying once. We have a video monitor, and that was helpful to keep my anxieties at bay. I'm very happy about it because I slept so much better, and he seemed to also.

8 Weeks Old

Photobucket

Photobucket

I am actually doing quite well on the blogging lately! Yay! lol.

I took these photos just moments ago. We've had a good morning so far. Corbin checked himself out in the mirror for a few moments & then checked me out in the mirror, too. I'm sure he was quite confused. Then I laid him down on the bed & had a "conversation" with him. He was cooing a lot, so I just let him talk. And he gave me lots of smiles. These photos were taken in the swing while it was actively swinging, so they are a little off center, but they captured his mood still.

We tried the BebePod for the first time on Saturday night. It worked well. He can mostly support his head up by himself, but he gets tired after a couple of minutes & plops over. I like this photo because it shows just how much of a little tank he is becoming.

Growth Spurt

Photobucket

This morning, Corbin weighed 10 lbs, 0.5 oz. We have had QUITE an interesting couple of days as far as his behavior goes. The only thing I can attribute it to is a growth spurt.

He had been a very predictable baby up until Thursday. He liked to nap in his bouncer after he ate. He usually ate 3-4 oz every 3-4 hours. He was easy to put down at night, and he would sleep in his bassinet next to our bed.

All of a sudden, he refused to be put down. He would scream his head off if I put him down anywhere. He ate almost non-stop. I'd say he wanted 5-6 oz every 2-3 hours. He didn't seem colicky because his crying only began if I put him down. He refused to sleep unless he co-slept. He would fall asleep on our chests, but would not be put down in his swing, bouncer, crib or bassinet, no matter how deep his sleep was. I had to put him down in order to pump yesterday, and he would scream & snort while tears ran down his face. It was heartbreaking!

Last night, we co-slept, even though I really am anxious about co-sleeping. It's not a long term solution.

Today, he seems much better. He slept in his swing & is in a much better mood. I think he was just going through a growth spurt & it made him pretty uncomfortable & needy.

My fever was finally gone this morning. I thought it was gone a few days ago, but then I noticed it came back in the evenings (around 100). But this morning, it was 98.8, and I actually have some energy today.

I took this picture of Corbin just a few minutes ago. He looks like he has changed physically in the past 48 hours, too. His face is fuller & when his eyes are open, they look a little smaller, probably due to his growing noggin.

The Buckeyes Lost!

Photobucket

Yeah, we just couldn't believe that we lost our second Championship game in a row.
Photobucket

I have not posted lately because I have been very sick. Sicker than I have been in a long time. Last night when I took my temp, it was 103.3. I've sweated through the sheets two nights in a row. Thankfully, Jon stayed home yesterday & today to help take care of Corbin. It is VERY difficult to take care of someone else when you are too weak to move. It all started for me on New Year's eve.

Photobucket

That is an unflattering photo of me on New Year's Eve, when I was starting to get sick. We went to a party that we ended up leaving early because my asthma was acting up. It never acts up anymore, so that was unusual. The next morning, I was very sick. Corbin had the sniffles & a lot of drainage for less than 24 hours. No temp ever. Thank God for breastmilk! I, on the other hand, had a fever ranging from 100-103 plus for the next 8 days. Agh. I went to the doctor on Tuesday & got some antibiotics. My fever finally broke this morning. We actually had people over for the game. Jon was dismayed because I made him make the food (I wasn't going to serve people when I was sick) and I ended up falling asleep for the game downstairs while people upstairs took care of the little guy. Falling asleep for the game ended up being a good decision by the way.

Here we are pre-game:

I am so glad to be up and moving around again. The things we take for granted.

We ended up buying an infant scale with some giftcards. Corbin weighs 9 lbs and 12 oz as of yesterday, and we also had to retire the newborn sized clothing. I leave you with one last photo of our cutie.
